Best of 2015–August, Part 2

From Wenatchee we headed South to meet the rest of the Jewett clan for the

Kamas County Fair in Fairfield, Idaho.

We visited the old Rail Road Depot that Nana lived above when she was a girl.

Then we were off to the activities at the fair!

While climbing this slide with her cousins, Josie turned around and called down to me, yelling,

“Mom, this slide smells like Gubler feet!”

One of the highlights of our time in Fairfield was playing “Empire” with the family

at the Prairie Inn.

We celebrated all the summer birthdays at Jim Dandy’s, the pizza place.

We enjoyed the parade

(both times around)

Grandpa got to visit with his babysitter, on whom he had a crush some 60 years ago!

IMG_3558IMG_3559

And we had a general good time just hanging out together!

After our very eventful 18 day trip

we finally got home.

We celebrated Tre’s third birthday!

At some point while in Wenatchee with Grandpa, Tre saw an Elmo cake in Safe Way.

Once we got home, that was the cake he declared he wanted.

The chances that we would be able to find a gluten free, dairy free Elmo cake that matched his memory of the

Safe Way cake was slim.

So, I tried to create something for him…

Its amazing how forgiving a three-year old can be when you engage him in the creative process.

It was disgusting. The frosting, the cake, the final outcome.

But, he ate it and loved it.

Tommy ended his tenure at Valley Mental Health before our trip and began a new

career at Wasatch Mental Health.
