Pinto, Utah, 2010

Tommy and Josie both got to enjoy their first Tullis Family Reunion, held annually in Pinto, Utah.

Where in the world is Pinto, Utah you ask?

Pretty much in the middle of No Where. But, it’s pretty.

This year my mom and her siblings were in charge of things. We chose the theme, Tullis Family Highland Games, to celebrate our Scottish history.

We made t-shirts with the theme and then lined up for the Presentation of the Clans. Each family group had t-shirts in a different color, and a flag with the name of the head of clan (my grandfather’s generation) from whence the rest of us have descended. We all had kazoo’s (rather than bag-pipes) and each clan chose a song to sing with their kazoo’s as we paraded around the pavilion.

Then the games began!

We had the hammer throw, the caper toss, and many other feats of Scottish strength. Sort of.

After the games we headed in to Veo for swimming. The pool has changed so much since we were little kids. It’s much nicer now, but also much more crowded.

Tommy made his first dutch oven meal for us over this weekend – and it was delicious!!

Most of our time was spent just sitting around and visiting – our favorite place to “sit around” was the camp fire.

All in all, despite the lack of fishing, the heat, and the quirkiness of extended (but oh-so-loveable) family, we had a great time.
