After reading about leprechauns in some library books, we decided to try to catch one ourselves this year,
and get his gold!
With mom and dad’s help, Josie built a great trap with lots of gold and green and glitter
(all of which leprechauns are attracted to, of course).
We discussed with Josie the possible repercussions of attempting to trap one of the little men and getting caught:
so she knew that the risks of having the tables turned and pranks being pulled on her was a part of the deal,
but she was willing to try it anyway.
So we filled Josie’s trap with our own “gold,” using one of the coins as the trigger for the trap, then we all went to bed to see what would happen…
Well, the tricky little guy not only caught on to our plans and played some tricks on us,
(turned our pictures upside down, played with Josie’s cars and DVD’s, put her toy duck on her toy eggs, filled our fridge with Josie’s play food and turned our milk green!)
he even took all of Josie’s gold!
But, he left his hat behind!
And in a little note he left with the trap he said he would be back for the hat next year…
We’ll be waiting!
